SUP (stand up paddle boarding) is one of my favourite water sports. It’s also one of the easiest to get the hang of. Most people find their sea legs within minutes then relax and enjoy the view. Here’s some ideas for a SUP adventure!
Get started with SUP adventure
The first time you try SUP, you’ll want it to be somewhere super calm – like a sheltered lake or canal. You could try a beginner session on London’s canals, or check out a quiet lagoon in Sri Lanka like I did in the photo above 🙂
A little more SUP adventure
If you fancy something a little more tricky, you could try SUP yoga. Yup, that’s yoga on a SUP! It’s still pretty chill, but presents an extra balance challenge for your core.
Or, for more of a conventional SUP challenge, try paddling around the coast. Challenges come in the form of wind and swell, so it can be a little tougher on the muscles! SUPs are perfect for exploring coastlines and caves on calmer days.
I first tried SUP in Wales on a calm day – I had no idea the coastline would be so beautiful!
Maximum SUP adventure
For maximum SUP adventure try taking a longer trip somewhere scenic. For example, Gutsy Girls offer SUP holidays in Croatia and Norway.
For the yogis amongst you, why not have a go at SUP yoga? You can even try it at night on a glowing SUP in Oahu!
Or try your hand at SUP surfing. Smaller, sportier SUPs are perfect in small surf and the waves add a little adrenaline punch!
