I might be tiny (width-wise) but I’m not short. As the slightly letchy guy at my climbing gym likes to tell me – I have nice long legs. So I’ve been looking for sports leggings which are small enough and long enough!
I’m cool with my size and shape, aside from the odd bitchy comment and the media constantly telling me skinny is ugly (yeah, they get skinny girls too. It’s another story but, where other girls dieted as teenagers, I attempted to eat my weight in donuts every day to bulk up.) (NB. Don’t try that. It just makes you feel sick).
But there’s still one problem. Clothing manufacturers don’t expect you to be a size 6 and have 32” (or more) legs!
So sports leggings are basically always 7/8 on me and, frankly, I don’t even understand why 7/8 is a thing! They look dumb unless you’re barefoot – and I climb, which means I’m always wearing shoes. Besides, who wants to make sure their ankles are hair-free to work out in the middle of winter? Not me.
So after a long hard struggle, hours searching through sports shops and a whole heap of returned online orders, ladies – I’ve found the ones! Not even just one, in fact, a whole brand of perfect leggings for tall, skinny girls like me.
The prize goes to…. KYODAN.
About Kyodan
Founded in 2006, Kyodan is a Canadian brand with HQ in Montreal. They make all kinds of men’s and women’s sportswear with a focus on quality, durability and style. I’d personally say that they do that quite well!
Why I love Kyodan leggings
I love my Kyodan leggings for four reasons:
- They fit! As I said above, one of the only brands I’ve found that work for longer, skinny legs.
- They’re pretty! But they aren’t all super girly – Kyodan’s range includes tomboy plain styles as well as pretty patterned ones.
- They’re cheap!
- They last! I’ve got three pairs which all get washed once a week and they still look brand new!
Where to find them
I found Kyodan leggings in TK Maxx (TJ Maxx in the US) and right now that’s the only place I’ve been able to track them down in the UK. They have them in their high street stores, but you can find the biggest range on the TK Maxx website.
TK Maxx are always changing their brands so there’s no way of knowing how long they’ll be stocked for, or where to find them if they stop. So if they work for you, I suggest you stock up!
If you’re based in the US or Canada, you can also buy them from the Kyodan online shop.
