Kiteboarding is a great water sport and one that is relatively easy to learn. And who doesn’t love kites? (…ahem… actually, I don’t… I have a phobia. It’s a thing.) Here’s how to have a Kiteboarding adventure!
Get started with kiteboarding
To get started with kiteboarding, the best thing to do is to watch. Head to your nearest lake or bay where people are kiteboarding and spend some time watching them zoom about.
Or, if you fancy watching the pros, head to a pro kiteboarding competition (or watch one online). Check out World Kiteboarding League, International Kiteboarding Association, or even the Youth Olympics!
A little more kiteboarding adventure
If you want to learn to kiteboard, first you’ll need to learn to fly a big kite. That’s before you get anywhere near the water – and with good reason! You’ll need to know how to control the kite and, most importantly, how to cut the air from the kite to stop it dead. Then you’ll need a few more sessions to get the hang of it in the water!
You can find great intro sessions at Go Kite in St Kilda, Melbourne, The Kitesurf Centre in the UK, or Miami Kiteboarding in Miami, FL, USA.
Maximum kiteboarding adventure
For maximum kiteboarding adventure you’ll want to try out some of the best kiteboarding spots in the world. Try Grand Caymen in the Caymen Islands, Nabq in Egypt or Maui in Hawaii.
