Joining a group adventure can be a great way to take the leap and push yourself out of your comfort zone. You’ll get to try something new, meet new people and have some fun – even if your friends don’t want to join you.
Get started with joining a group adventure
Depending on you personality, it can be a little daunting to join a group of people you don’t yet know. So the best way to dip your toe in the water is to sign up for something that is just a few hours long.
A shorter adventure takes away some of the fear. What if you hate the activity? Well, you never have to do it again. What if the people aren’t nice? Then you won’t have to see them again.
There are some great adventures that take just a few hours, so why not try a Gutsy Girls skateboard lesson, or a Secret Adventures kayaking trip. You could even try any short tour on Viator, a Tripadvisor company, which has just about any short tour you could think of.
A little more group adventure
The next step with joining a group adventure is to try a longer trip – perhaps between one and seven days. A long weekend is perfect for this! You could go overseas or stay close to home.
Surf Sistas do some really awesome surfing weekends in Cornwall, UK or you could check out Much Better Adventures who specialise in long weekends in Europe.
Maximum group adventure
For maximum adventure you’ll want to think about joining a longer group adventure. Go away for a week or more that’s choc-full of adventure!
I’m a really big fan of Surf Sistas for 10-day surfing adventures. They offer multi-stop trips in both Bali and Costa Rica which I can’t recommend highly enough.
Or, check out G Adventures for a huge range of adventure trips all over the world. I love the Active trips which combine activities like Hiking, Cycling and Kayaking with exploring new countries off the beaten track. Try the China Adventure (Read my review) or a longer trip to India (Read my review).
If you want to be super adventurous you could apply to join an Expedition. Not for the faint-hearted, companies like Secret Compass provide the opportunity to join expedition groups on really hardcore treks. Destinations include the Darien Gap and Afghanistan so don’t be fooled – the risk is real.
