I love a good quote. Though often cliché, I find them helpful to remember the way I want to live my life. It should be easy to remember what you want your life to be like – I want mine to be full of travel and adventure! But sometimes ‘life’ gets in the way.
It’s the same when I am travelling – I want to appreciate different cultures, see new things and have fun! But sometimes tiredness gets in the way, especially if a lot of early starts and long journeys are involved.
So, here are some of my favourite quotes that I like to keep in mind when I travel.
“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
~Albert Einstein
I think the latter is the preferable option! I try to remember to be amazed at everything, even when it’s hard.
“Every mountain top is in reach if you just keep climbing”
~ Barry Finlay
This reminds me to just keep going, no matter what. Don’t give up. Climb that god damn mountain (or metaphorical mountain!).
“Nothing is ever real till it is experienced.”
~ John Keats
I couldn’t agree more. Get out there and experience some stuff – no excuses!
“You have to taste a culture to understand it”
~ Deborah Cater
You have to try the food, especially the unusual stuff! (If you ever visit Takayama, Japan, definitely try the Hida Beef Sushi in the picture – it’s amazing!)
“I’ve always believed in savouring the moments. In the end, they are the only things we’ll have.”
~ Anna Godbersen
When I am old, I want to have great memories to think of. Sometimes it’s the little things that stick in your mind. I remember sitting out back on my surfboard by myself when this picture was taken – I can still feel the cool water on my legs.
