Snorkelling is the easiest way to see a whole other world – the underwater world. Here’s some ideas for a snorkelling adventure! All you need is a mask, snorkel and fins (and a life jacket if you aren’t a good swimmer) and you’re good to go!
Get started with snorkelling
If you’re at all nervous about trying snorkelling then the best way to get started is to borrow a mask and snorkel and have a go in a swimming pool. Swimming pools don’t have swell like the sea, so you don’t have to worry so much about any water going down your snorkel.
A little more snorkelling adventure
The next step with snorkelling is to get in the sea and swim with some ocean wildlife. You can buy a mask, snorkel & fins and snorkel right off the beach in a calm bay, wherever you happen to be on your holidays.
Or, book up a snorkel tour. A tour will take you out on a boat to local spots known to have something exciting to look at – think colourful fish, and even Manta Rays! You’ll hop off the boat into open water, but don’t worry about swimming for long periods of time – you’ll spend most of the time floating effortlessly on the surface and enjoying the view.
Here’s a video of a snorkelling trip I took in Nusa Lembongan, Indonesia with some friends.
Maximum snorkelling adventure
To get the most out of your snorkelling adventure you’ll need to go to some of the top snorkelling locations in the world. Try The Galapagos Islands in Equador, The Great Barrier Reef in Australia or The Maldives.
And don’t forget to take your GoPro!
