What could be more fun than flying through the air at high speed, taking in an amazing view (whilst safely secured to a zip line)? A zip lining adventure is exhilarating for all ages and abilities.

You can find zip lines all over the world, from huge treetop courses down to pop-up zip lines in major cities.

Zip lining adventure

Get started with zip lining…

The simplest way to get started with zip lining is to head to your local park. You can get a taste for the feeling of zipping through the air without being far off the ground. Most local parks and playgrounds have a small zip line to try. Outta the way kids, adventure seekers coming through!

A little more zip lining adventure…

For a little more zip lining adventure, you could have a go on a short zip line that isn’t too high up. You can find Zip lines in so many locations around the world – even in cities! Google ‘city zip line near me’ and see what comes up!

Sometimes zip lines ‘pop up’ in a city for just one season, like on London’s Southbank last year, so keep an eye out in your closest city.

Maximum zip lining adventure!

For maximum adventure you’ll want to try a zip lining adventure course. You can find zip lining parks all over the world with a whole range of different types of courses.

The highest zip line is considered to be ‘La Tyrolienne‘ in the French Alps which connects two ski resorts at an altitude of 10,597ft!

Or you could try North Georgia’s Screaming Eagle Tours at Historic Banning Mills Resort, which is the longest and largest zip line canopy tour in the world. It boasts a massive 10 miles of zip lines and sky bridges!

Halloween at Dracula’s castle – Romania

Surely the ultimate in Halloween adventures would be a visit to Dracula’s castle? Yes, it’s real. It’s called Bran Castle and you’ll find it in Transylvania (of course!) in Romania. What’s more is that you can actually spend the night there on Halloween! If you dare…

Spend Halloween at Draculas Castle!

Seen anything spooky on your travels?

The jury is out on whether I believe in ghosts and I’d prefer not to have it proven either way… but I did stay in a centuries-old inn in Bala, North Wales that made me feel very uncomfortable. Especially when the ‘Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’-style cupboard opened itself with a creek in the middle of the night!!

What’s the spookiest thing that’s happened to you on your travels?

I went to New York for a few days with my Mum. I had been before with a friend and absolutely loved it, so I really wanted to show my Mum the sights!

One evening we decided to go for dinner near Times Square so that we could see the lights at night time.

We were staying near the Empire State Building so, whilst we were central, it was a fair walk back to our hotel. We didn’t feel like catching a cab and figured it would be pretty safe to walk along Fifth Avenue on a Saturday night, expecting there to be a lot of people around.

Well, it turned out Fifth Avenue was completely quiet that Saturday night. No people, no cars, and frankly a bit spooky. We were brave though and continued to walk to the hotel, stopping to cross the street even though there weren’t many vehicles around.

Suddenly the dark shape of a man appeared, moving towards us at a pace. He came closer. Bat-like ears sillhoutted against the streetlights, cape flowing behind him. It couldn’t be?!

Batman.

We froze. There we were on a deserted street in a huge city, alone with Batman. We didn’t know what to do. What was going to happen?

He laughed. “Haha, you can tell you’re tourists! You’re scared! I’m in a batman costume, what do you think I’m gonna do?”

And with that, he ran. Right down the middle of the wide street of Fifth Avenue, stopping the odd yellow taxi in its tracks as he made his way to save Gotham City.
